Forty years of
Maltese ground.

A contractor built the slow way — one completed building at a time, by people who stayed.

Our story

Established September 2000.
Experienced long before that.

Our managing director began working in Malta’s construction industry in the 1980s. By the time Schranz Limited was formally established in September 2000, the way the company would operate was already settled: hire talent, keep it, and give it the room to do proper work.

That decision is what separated us from bigger competitors early on. While others scaled by subcontracting everything, we invested in operatives who would still be on our sites a decade later. The reputation followed — and with it, the projects.

The result is a firm that is neither the biggest on the island nor trying to be. We are the one clients call when the detail matters and the programme is not negotiable.

How we work

Informed, intelligent
and unglamorous.

Good construction is mostly good preparation. Here is what that looks like on a Schranz job.

Step 01

Understand the brief and the site

Before pricing, we read the drawings against the ground. Access, geology, neighbours and services decide more about a Maltese project than most clients expect.

Step 02

Cost plan and risk register

Feasibility studies, cost planning and risk assessment happen up front. We would rather deliver bad news at tender stage than a variation at month eight.

Step 03

Mobilise our own core trades

Shutterers, steel fixers, concreters and licensed masons come from our own team. Established subcontractors fill the specialist gaps — the same ones, job after job.

Step 04

Build, supervise, record

Site management is continuous, not a weekly visit. Health and safety, quality checks and programme tracking run in parallel with the works.

Step 05

Finish to specification

Handover is judged on the finishes: flooring, apertures, cladding, joinery and services set out exactly as the architect drew them.

The team

Main contractor,
with the trades in-house.

Schranz operates as main contractor, with a management team supported by a core of directly employed operatives — and a network of established subcontractors we have worked with for years.

Keeping these skills in-house is the reason we can commit to a programme and hold it. It is also why the standard of a Schranz structure looks the same on the first project of the year as on the last.

What we hold to

Four things we don’t
trade away.

Craft over volume

We take the work we can build properly. Growth has never been worth a compromised finish.

Straight answers

On cost, on programme, on what a site will and will not allow. Clients hear it early.

People we keep

Investing in talented workers was the founding decision. It still is the strategy.

Safety as standard

Risk assessments and safety services are part of the job, on every site, from day one.
